I am attemptong to repair/upgrade my stream laptop - just need to know what type of hard drive I need to purchase. I have a Stream - HP 14-az010wm. Thanks.
My esc, g and h keys just stopped working for no reason and I cant type anymore, and the keys didn't physically break. Otherwise the on-screen keyboard works, but that's annoying having to pull that up every single time I want to message someone or something like that.
Hi! This is my first time in the HP community and I know there is a number of threads already on upgrades, but I would like to query specifically about the model of notebook that I own and have been using for nearly 3 years. I own a Pavilion 15-aw009na (released and bought in 2016) with a 2TB HDD, 8GB RAM, AMD A10 9600P and some obscure discrete AMD GPU. I would like to query about the upgradability of this model, as the HDD to shows its sluggish nature in comparison to other HP notebooks I have used at school that have SSDs and I would like to know how easy it is to upgrade it and what brand is best for SSDs, and which storage size is best value, as I really appreciate the huge amount of storage I have at the moment and would like to have a 1TB SSD at the least (which would probably be rather expensive?) and I would like to have a very fast SSD, as I notice the sluggish nature of the HDD whenever I use this machine, although to be fair to the machine it’s definitely not the slowest HDD ever. Furthermore, I would also be looking to upgrade the RAM on this machine, as the 8GB I currently have starts to slow things down in intensive tasks, like having many SolidWorks models opened alongside my DT coursework in Publisher and playing Cities Skylines. Which brand of RAM would be best and is there a limit to how much this particular machine will support? Just as a side note, I am considering these upgrades as I have a rather sentimental bond to my computer, as I bought it with money my Grandad left for me and I don’t want to risk damaging it and I want to keep on using it for as long as possible, I would also like to mention that I’ve never had any huge issues with this computer, aside from having to spend a whole day every few months to reinstall AMD graphics drivers.
Thank you!!!
I am about to buy a HP X360 laptop, But it only has a sdd of 256 gb, so I'd like to connect and extra HDD drive But I am not sure this laptop has 2 slots for hard drive.
How i can make a new partition up to 1 TB in windows 10?
So a similar problem had happened to me many times in the past. I have owned this laptop for about 4 years now and knew just about any solution to fixing it until now, even if it was the most scuffed solution in the world.
Until today.
To explain the problem in detail, its the problem that a lot of people seem to have faced, and a problem that is seemingly easily fixable. It's a problem where the power is connected to the Laptop, but there is no charge going through. While most of the time it would charge to 95% for me and display "Plugged in, Not Charging". This time it was just "Not Charging", with out the plugged in part, and it stopped at 80% instead of the usual 95.
I have tried every solution possible to this that I could find of. Some of the solutions that I tried:
1. Updating BIOS - Did not work, in fact made it worse for a temporary while by showing that it wasn't even plugged or not charging, but actually in use. It dropped me down to 67% before I managed to somehow restart it a bunch of times. It has shown this message all the time. (Ignore the percentage)
Yes this is the older version of Windows 10, but I can't seem to get windows 10 to update and it seemed unnecesary to spend more than 2 hours on it.
2. Uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, turning off the computer, unplugging the AC adapter from the laptop, taking out the battery, pressing the power button for at least 90 seconds, putting everything back in, restarting it. - Nothing happened. Only drained my battery.
3. Unistalling didn't work so search every nook and cranny of the web for an update of the driver - spent 40 minutes on it to no solution.
4. Uninstalled the driver again, turned off the computer, took out the AC adapter, taking out the battery, put just the AC back in, and tried to turn it on that way to see if it was a battery defect - Computer won't start up, the power button, Caps lock key and what seemed to be a few LED lights turning flashing three times before staying on, but no display turned on, and no sign of Hard drive rev to signal system boot up. By LED I mean the two middle ones (The power oine and the lightning symbol, usually meaning charging) both in white colour (Usually when it is charging the lightning tunrs red).
Didn't have any effect so I did the exact same thing above: unplugged everything, pressed the power button for 90 seconds again (I think they do this to drain out any remaining power so I did it for as long as I could), replugged everything but the battery in. Same thing happened with the flashing LED. No progress
5. Plugged the battery back in this time, started it up, now I'm at 44%, but this time I start it in safe mode just to see if maybe something was wrong, and nothing was. I went for a lunch break, and when I came back the battery was still at 44%, so I'm guessing that there was no battery drain, but the fact that it still doesn't charge worries me.
6. Rebooted in normal mode, this time I tried to change the mode to balanced settings and not High performance (which is what I had it at) - Nothing happened. The battery stayed at the same 44%. Did the same with low power and power saver, and nothing changed 44% as of now.
7. Tried a different AC adapter. One a slightly older one from about 2013, and one more recent that I just borrowed from 2016. Nothing changed, so I tried changing up the power cord that connects to the wall (that is supposed to connect to the AC adapter). I had only 1 extra. So aftedr trying 6 different combinations of chargers and connectors, nothing changed. Battery now at 38%
8. Did the exact same experiment, but with a different wall connector, with all 6 combinations. Didn't work, and just in case I went to a different one and still to my demise, nothing else.
9. Went to the menu thing that startup, went to check up battery. Passed with no failure, but one thing I did notice was that AC power status had said "No", while current was at 0 mA (plugged in) and a higher value (somewhere near 3000 I think) unplugged. Battery now at 33%.
10. Did the same thing but with the AC adapter. This time though, with the AC adapter plugged in, it said to plug the AC adapter in. I initially thought that this wasa problem with the AC adapter, but even with 2 other adapter, it could not have been a problem with the AC adapter. Nothing physically was wrong - No pins bent, nothing obstructing the DC part of the laptop. Also, from observations at 4, I had presumed that the computer had a power running through.
It had just told me to constantly reconnect and connect the AC adapter from the power cord, in which I did and came out with a failure.
If the image is not clear because of clarity issues,
The failure ID is : PLQ543-7PW9LR-MFGJLJ-C1E703
Product ID is: K0G98ES#ABV
So yeah that's all the solutions that I have tried, and after spending 8 hours on a problem that didn't seem to be fixable, I am seeking help from the community, and hope to get a solution from here, as a technician where I live would easily charge over $100 just for the checkup and easily over $250 for the entire thing, even if they were HP qualified.
As of now I am at 25%, stayed like that for a solid 40 minutes now, have deadlines in 3 days and am not willing to take out the battery nor the power cord again because I simply do not have the time for that as of now, but would probably plan on doing do afterwards.
I hope that I can find someone who can help me.
Hello,
I have a problem, about my HP ENVY 13AD100NT laptop is getting very hot quickly.Even when i do only basic operation, like web browsing or watching youtube videos.

Even i have a external fan i can't play so its not enjoyable, Its get very hot very quickly! By the way im not using charging cable when i playing games because its nearly impossible :) without any operation in this laptop, while charging my computer reaching 60-70 celsius only by charging.

Thanks for yo
Hi, I have an issue that seems to be a commonality with HP Envy X360 computer. My Left casing/hinge area has cracked and now the casing is coming apart from the screen, and I can't use my computer. The computer is having difficulty closing, and the screen is not working. I have not dropped, damaged, or handled the computer roughly. The computer cracked as I opened it up. I do not use it in the flipped tablet position. This is very upsetting, as I have seen that this has been an issue since 2015, and it is a design flaw that apparently has not been fixed. The computer is only just over a year old, and I use the computer daily for my work. It would be greatly appreciated if someone from HP could help resolve this problem.
The user guide says:
"(depending on the configuration)"
I bought my laptop around 2 years ago. Recently one hinge has become loose and the back casing is now pulling away from the screen in that corner. This makes the laptop difficult to close, it also seems to be a common issue with these laptops based on the number of people who have had a similar experience. I am hoping this issue can be repaired as I expected this laptop to last until I have finished university. I have tried to find a number to call but have had trouble finding a one for an out of warranty product. If someone could direct me to the correct place that would be great.
Thanks
Jess
I cannot find what driver or program powers the Omen key on the laptop. I have downloaded and installed the Omen Control Panel, which works fine, except that it doesn't activate the Omen key.
I got the laptop from BestBuy, and (thankfully) made an image backup first thing. Everything worked. It was configured with Windows Home 64-bit. It also was set up with many things I would rather not have. I had bought a full version of Windows 10 Pro along with the laptop.
So, after backing everything up, I installed W10-Pro, formatting the drive and installing it to a clean drive. Everything worked fine -- except the Omen key, which was dead. From HP forums I learned where to find the Omen software to install, which worked -- but does not and did not power the Omen key.
So I restored my backup of the original setup, and, of course, the Omen key came back to life. So it obviously is a drive or some such that powers that key. But what and where?
Partly because I like setting a machine up from scratch, and partly because it irks me that nobody seems to now what or how to get the Omen key to work, I am left basically annoyed at my new laptop that otherwise is really great.
What I need to find is some geek-type that has discovered the secret to powering the Omen key.
I have run into the same issue that several people have had in which the left hinge of my laptop has basically become non useable. I cannot close my laptop and it is literally falling apart. Several additional posts have been made it seems. My laptop was purchased August of 2017, so unfortunately its out of warranty but less than two years old. I've used HP products for years and this just seems ridiculous.
I noticed my keyboard was slightly warped the other month.
The warp has gotten worse.
I dont know how this could happen as the laptop is always on my desk.
I never carry it around or take it out of the house.
The underneath of the laptop is flat.
Its like a tumor from the "escape" key to the "f11"key and slopping down towards the space bar.
Anybody else had this problem?
What should I do?
Hello Sir,
I have purchased an m.2 SSD
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B073SBV3XX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and installed that in m.d SSD port of my laptop.
Now my question is, How can I see that in which protocol it's running and change it to AHCI protocol.
Looking to find the correct memory upgrade for my HP pavilion dv6-3236nr Entertainment PC . I did a scan at crucial.com and that gave me the wrong info.

Hi,
I really need to upgrade my laptop. I found this https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/The-maximum-GB-in-RAM-on-HP-pavilion-g6/td-p/6189758 , but I want to be 100% sure that I can upgrade it. Right now I have 6GB of RAM and my CPU Core™ i5-2430M can handle 16GB of ram. So I want to add atleast 2GB more 4GB + 4GB is it possible?
Thanks!
Which type of wlan card slot is used in my laptop?
Is it NGFF Slot?

I got my Envy laptop fixed twice already by getting the defective hinges replaced but they have broken for the 3rd time, causing me a lot of frustration.
It's clear that the hinge design is sub-standard and the fix is temporary.
The laptop is a 2012 purchase and gets a minimal weekend use. It was never dropped and has
no physical damage.
The first two occurances of this issue were covered under warranty but the machine is not under
warranty now and the hinge problem seems to be a never ending one.
I am definitely not willing to pay for something that occured not due to my negligence but due to HP's defective hinge design.
Apart from this issue, it's a very good machine and I did never have any issues with it.
Looking forward to a positive response and a PERMANENT fix as I have already suffered a lot due to this issue.
