Please tell me how you fixed it. Mine is Hp 15 and the same thing happened with my laptop. First the hinge was a little shaky then one time it got stuck while closing the laptop and it slightly opened up the display casing. Now it closes unevenly.
The worst part is i went to an authorised HP service centre and the repairing quotation is around 20000 INR which is more than half of the laptop's current price.

STIFF OPENING LID
The lid is very hard to open - closes OK - just happened as I was trying to turn over the laptop to find my model # No sticker on bottom. When I was trying to close it while holding it upside down I guess that's when it happened. Caveat: No sticker on bottom of laptop. Bad News....Warranty expired 2 days ago. Image may be NSFW.

I bought my laptop at best buy. They week the warrenty ran out my computer stopped. The screen went black and never has done crap since. About 2 wks after quitting for no reason i get a recall notice from HP. I saved every i sent and still have them. I have sent numerous since the 2015 safety recall. Today HP tech person called by mistake and i demanded answers and got total **bleep**, then transferrd. That guy wanted $49.99 to repair the laptop that was recalled tht they will NOT replace or repair. I have to pay 50 bucks on his word it can be fixed or replaced once i give them 50 dollers. I say help us get a #classactiononhewlettpackard for not fixing or replacing items they recalled. They also just flat ignore phone calls and voicemails i have made many to their company. They dont bother with emails either as i have sent many since this recall. We deserve better. I just want my money back, or a laptop fixed or replaced. They refuse.

Hard drive in optical bay caddy not detected
I replaced my hdd with an ssd and put the old hdd (1 TB) in the optical bay using a caddy from newmodus. The hdd is sometimes available and other time just gone. Sometimes when I boot up and go to explorer right away the hdd is there but when I click on it explorer hangs up and then sometimes it will show the folders on the hdd after a while and sometimes the drive just disapears. I can reboot a few times and sometimes get it to show up and work just fine.
There are no cables in the caddy, just a plug for the hdd and then the bay side internal plug. Could this be a IDE vs. AHCI thing?

The hdd works just fine when I take it out and plug it into a USB port.
Also, when the hdd is not detected it seems to slow things down. Rebooting from the samsung SSD should be super fast but it seems to be hunting for a while now. When I take out the HDD caddy it runs fast/normal again.
This all may be moot if we go underwater from Harvey down here in TX.

BIOS Update Failure
I've been trying to do the HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors) using HP Support Assistant, but it keeps failing. It gets to the end of the download, it asks me if it Worked, Didn't Work and "I Don't know." Since I don't know, that's how I've been answering. It seems to start the installation and then stops and tells me it failed. What am I doing wrong? I closed my browser and email program after the first failure, but that didn't help. I've tried 3 times with no success. I have an HP Notebook Model W2M75UA#ABA, Serial number [Personal Information Removed]

According to a pdf on my model, I can replace my wifi card with part #710662-005. My question is will part #710662-001 work as well? I can find the 001 on ebay, not so much the 005.

Computer is stuck on Working on Updates screen.
My computer is stuck at 72% on the Working on Updates screen. I have restarted it multiple times and nothing has changed. It goes back to 72% and freezes.

Chromebook Key : Enter Key won't work
My daughter has a Chromebook for school. We bought it just about a year ago. It works just great, except the "Enter" key no longer works. I've tried cleaning under it (i popped the key itself). She has already tried a hard reset. The key feels just fine when you press it. TIA.

Broken hinges and LCD Cover
Hi to everybody! My girlfriends laptop, bought in The Nederlands, finally broke, the left plastic covering for the hinges on the upper LCD cover is completely off, metal guides which are inside LCD cover are broken from both hinges too.
She is *very* accurate, never dropped or mishandled the machine... it just became worse and worse until the total breakage. All electronics still works.
"Part Surfer" was of no help, it does not even list that model at all. Computer is just out of warranty after some 2 years.
I would urgently need to get hold of a replacement parts for that model. I am sufficiently experienced technician to do the job on my own.

Making my HP 3125 perform faster
Hello all, I purchased two refurbished HP 3125 computers from a computer store. I had to buy each one a new operating system so I got each one Windows 8.1 and upgraded both to windows 10. I am trying to figure out how to make them respond faster.
They both came with 2GB of RAM and I have ordered 8GB that I will put into each one next week. I was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers on the possiblity of these two laptops being able to be upgraded any more than this? Their response time is not as fast as what I am used to with my desktop. I was advised to put more RAM into them, which is why I ordered more.
I read in another forum online that maybe I should upgrade the hard drive? These laptops come with a 320 GB 5400 rpm HDD. I am not sure if this is upgradeable and even how to begin looking at options. If anyone has any input on this subject, I would greatly appreciate it.
Lastly, I use my iPhone 7 as a hotspot for my internet. It does not pick up the network very easily though. I have to fidget with both my wifi setting on the laptop and my hotspot setting on my phone before it will find the network. It picks up my wifi in my home easily, is this just a problem with the iphone?
