dv6-6117dx battery won't charge past 63%
Hey all,
Recently bought a backup battery from nextdaypower.com for my dv6-6117dx and when I got it, I noticed it wouldn't charge past 63%. I followed the steps on this site to calibrate the battery, but to no avail.
More so, I couldn't seem to find any previous discussions anywhere online that were specific to my current problem.
In any case, I'm just at a loss at the moment and starting to think I got screwed by next day power despite them being "google trusted".
If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to throw them my way and don't hesitate to ask for more info if needed.

Laptop doesn't start up
After applying thermal paste to my cpu (because it was overheating) my computer stopped turning on. What happens is that when I press the power button the fan,HHD,and lights come on but no display then after 2 seconds it turns off. Please help because I use this computer for important stuff. Question, could it be that I put too much thermal paste on :/

Bios Password Reset for HP Envy 15
Hi all,
Mate has a crazy ex girlfriend who has placed a bios password on his laptop.
Been trolling the documentation for the laptop and cannot find any reference to
a BIOS password reset facility.
Can someone please point me in the right direction for this laptop.

Network connection dropping out when using HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking station
We have many users suffering from this issue
They are all docking with Ultrabooks
Each time network connectivity drops, user needs to unplug and plug in network cable from docking station
Some users having to do this many many times a day
Please advise.......

Spectre x360 Strange Issues
Has any other Spectre x360 owners experience this strange Windows 8.1 behaviour?
Laptop will boot up normally with no error messages. The laptop continues to seemingly run normally until I notice that web videos (YouTube) no longer play in my Chrome browser (I say web videos because I have Flash disabled in Chrome). This is not a browser specific issue as I can switch over to IE with Flash enabled, and the same issue will happen. In fact, in IE, pages will not load at all. It will load the page halfway, and then it will pop up the warning that this page is not responding. I can restart IE/Chrome and the same issues continues.
This is not a browser only issue. I also noticed that Remote Desktop Connections also no longer work. It will be stuck at the "Configuring Remote Connection" stage of the connection and never connect.
All these issues are fixed with a reboot, and can happen again at any time (although not every time).
I have checked Windows event logs and there are no strange error messages. I have ran the HP hardware diagnostics full systems test looping overnight with no hardware issues.
Any ideas?

After nearly a year I bought the laptop, everything seemed fine when this problem occured. I started noticing that I didn't get the low battery notification. Later I discovered that the battery drained to 0 from around 23% and so it goes to hibernation everytime around 23%. In settings I saw that crictical battery level was 7% and critical battery action was "hibernate" (still it hibernates at 23%). And the low battery level was 11% by default.
I changed it to 24% so i can atleast get a notification before the laptop hibernates. I did a battery check in hp support assistant and the problem is it shows "ok". No failure id. I have active warranty for laptop but the customer care people won't replace it as there is no failure id. Here are the results (I'm only providing the necessary info):

heating issue
Hi
I have a Hp envy 15-j110tx.
Recently I have got the cooling gel,laptop fan and heat sync changed.
After I use my laptop for 45 minutes it heats on the left side of the body(just above the fan)
What should I do.(also the laptop passes heat test)
The heat is so much that it comes on the keyboard.

Hello. This is my first question here ever and is re: my HP Stream Notebook 11-d010nr. I can get upgraded to Win 10 free, but need 3GB of storage on my disc. C drive has a total of 29GB storage, with 2 GB partioned for my use. Can I repartion and how do I do that?

I am facing the same problem and i hope you are able to post a solution with transparency into this discussion board. This issue does not seem to be affecting a small localized number but it looks to be a general defect of the touchpad.
At this point, my touchpad is completely useless without having a mouse attached. (no mouse given from HP either). Without the use of the touchpad, then this laptop would be basically of no use. I use the touchpad predominantly for navigation instead of the touchscreen.
Even as i type this, the cursor is jumping all over the page due to its sensitivity to the placement of my palm.

ultrabook battery
Hello,
Our business has (3) HP Spectre Ultrabook notebooks; not holding charge for long, so purchased (3) brand-new HP batteries. Two laptops work great after battery replacement; third laptop only works when plugged in, remove the cord and it shuts down. It will not boot without being plugged in.
Placed the known working new battery from laptop 1 in laptop 3, same result - laptop 3 will not run on battery.
Recap: installed new battery, plugged in laptop, started it up; windows showed battery at 52% Let laptop charge overnight; booted it; windows showed 100 % battery Unplugged laptop, it shuts down. Tested same laptop with known working new battery, laptop will not function without being plugged in.
Ran all battery tests as previously described in other forums posts - tests indicate that battery is in good shape.
After removing the cord, press power button, white light on power button appears briefly, then goes away.
Any advice on why laptop will not run from battery?

Copying HP_RECOVERY?
I was planning on changing my hard drive (by myself) some time this year and I was wondering how would I retain the HP_RECOVERY and HP_TOOLS partitions. Can I just copy it, place the contents on a usb, make the same partition on the new hard drive, and paste the contents?

Power button not responding while pressing to turn on
Hi,
My laptop is 3 yrs old n it was showing d message to replace d battery but used to operate normal on AC. yesterday night I shut it down properly but in morning I couldn't turn on by pressing power button.
I hv tried hard resetting by removing battery n power cord then pressing power button for 30 sec then inserting power cord. It does started once but then I calibrated d battery as per advised instructions given in hp manual. There after I plugged in AC power chord n left battery to charge for 20 minute, red light was there. I tried to start my laptop but couldn't turn on neither by normal method not by again hard resetting. Kindly help if possible...

Spectre x360 USB devices connect/disconnect every 30 seconds only work with external powered USB hub
Bought two Spectre x360 replacing two Windows 7 machines. Bus powered USB devices do not work with the Spectre X360. They connect/disconnect every 5-30 seconds. The devices worked without issue on multiple Windows 7 machines, but will not work on either Spectre X360. Devices are: USB powered hard drive (USB 3.0), and a software key fob (USB 2.0).
The only way I could get the devices to stay connected to either Spectre X360 is to first connect a powered USB 3.0 hub, and have the USB devices connected to the hub.
Here is what I tried without success:
1. The BIOS and all drivers are up to date.
2. In Device Manager for USB Root Hub (xHCI), I turned off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under the Power Management Tab.
3. Disbled "USB selective suspend settings" in the "Change advanced power settings" of the "Power Options" / "Change plan settings".
4. Unchecked the "Turn on fast startup" in the "Choose what the power buttons do" of the Power Options control panel.
This ultra-portable computer is unusable if I must drag along an externally powered USB hub, power plug, and cables to connect my USB devices.
Again, all the USB devices work OK on multiple Windows 7 PCs, and do not work on two different Spectre X360. It appears the Spectre X360 does not supply enough USB power to keep the devices running, they connect and disconnect every 5-30 seconds.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am also having same to same problem with my hp pavilion G4-1303au from 3 month cant finding any solution problem is exact same as mentioned above pls help us with this problem as early as possible. already tried everything from updating driver to downloading and updating driver from thousands of websites i even reinstalled my windows 2 times twice windows 8.1 and once windows 7 but nothing changed all the wirings of mouse are connected properly inside laptop external usb mouse working but touchpad and right and left keys are not working.

HP Envy M7 Broken Hinge
My HP notebook has a broken hinge for the 2nd time in 3 years of ownership. Local PC shop said they can not fix it. Can HP fix it, ie with a new shell? It's really frustrating because I think it's a design flaw. The notebook is simply too heavy for the hinge they have in it.

Pavilion g7 Left Hinge Issue
The left hinge on my Pavilion g7 has started doing for me what it has for many of the people on this board and is pushing the case open when I open or close the top. At this point the computer is still functional, but I am not able to take it with me as needed.
What are my options to get this fixed?
